Hydroponics

The tanks and equipment for this project have been installed and the first greenhouse has been constructed.  The plan is to duplicate this greenhouse, so have two operational greenhouses.

Local produce such as bok choy and winter melon will initially be grown.

This project will initially provide produce for the school feeding program and eventually for the community and for sale to restaurants in Phnom Penh.  Due to the gentrification of Phnom Penh, there are more and more high end coffee shops, restaurants and resorts that are in need of quality vegetables.

We will employ villagers, who will in turn also have an educational component to their employment.

This project will create a  ‘virtuous circle.'  From the feeding program, the school children will  be able to learn and concentrate better. From the employment aspect, local families will have improved opportunities to earn a wage and provide for their families and the local adult population will continue to improve their education.

This ultimately leads to the community becoming fully sustainable on its own terms.
